​Prinz Mawuli Nusenu – is a Ghanaian artist, born in 1987, who studied arts, textiles design, and technology in Ghana. He moved to South Africa in 2012. He specialize in portrait painting and African print fabric collage on canvas.

Nusenu’s work showcases the influence of African print fabric in our everyday life, and how it represents us all over the world us Africans. Ghana’s well-known textile designs, for example Kente, is a big inspiration to Nusenu’s work. He African print fabrics in all of his artworks because of the beautiful colors, unique patterns, and variety of textures that makes the work stand out.

Nusenu says: “We, as Africans, have stories and messages to tell the world, so we have to say it boldly and loudly with bright colors. African print fabric to me is our identity, tells our history, and is our heritage that still represents us in the future.”

He does portraiture in series, depending on the topic that he wants to explores, and picks his fabrics and colours carefully to match the artwork’s narrative.
