Mziwoxolo Makalima was born in 1981 in Ngcobo, Eastern Cape. He is currently based in East London and is a full time artist specialising in painting and sculpture. Mziwoxolo started his studies in Fine Arts at the Tshwane University of Technology in 2004 and completed his Bachelor of Technology Degree in Fine and Applied Arts at the Walter Sisulu University in 2013.
Mziwoxolo also teaches fine art at the Walter Sisulu University on a part time basis, lecturing in drawing, painting and printmaking.
