Jordana Lyden-Swift – is a ceramicist based in Johannesburg. She studied Art & Design at Chelsea College of Arts in London, going on to qualify and practice around the globe as an architect for a decade.
Irish by birth, she relocated to Johannesburg in 2019, training at the Kim Sacks school of Ceramics. Swiftly becoming obsessed with the art form, her life changed course to focus and develop this newfound passion.
Her unique hand-built pieces display her architectural love of form, whilst allowing space for ornamentation and story telling. The evocative pieces speak to human resilience, alongisde both our connection to and distance from nature, through the figurative and botanical illustrations, though she encourages the onlooker to overlay their own narratives.
Her work has been selected for a number of national exhibitions celebrating SA ceramics, and she was awarded the the prestigious Van Tuyl Prize at the CSA Gauteng Exhibition. She is ceaselessly developing her practice, systematically pushing the boundaries of her skills and knowledge base.
