Joel Mamboka N’Kumu – Born in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He now lives and works in the heart of downtown Cape Town, South Africa.  

Nkumu’s first exhibition in South Africa was at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) as part of the city’s emerging artists program in 2019. Thereafter, he was featured in a group exhibition at Zeitz MOCAA titled Home is Where the Art is.  

 In 2024 a solo exhibition at the gallery at Steyn City. 

 He has been part of several group exhibitions, with two solo exhibitions at Youngblood Gallery including Knysna Fine Art. Nkumu’s artistic practice has allowed his works of art to be featured at the BlkArthouse, a digital gallery based in the United States; the Bobu Africa Gallery in Kenya; This Is Not a White Cube in Lisbon; and The Gallery at Grande Provence in Franschhoek.
